2.2 Ring with Milled Metal Shank

DESCRIPTION:

Fabricate a dramatic, one-of-a-kind ring, by soldering a milled metal shank to a metal clay topper/focal element. You may use either silver or base metal clay and the milled wire or sheet metal may be textured or plain.

The ring may be embellished with any decorative materials such as gemstones, enamel, or gold details (although it’s not required). This challenge focuses on expanding the makers usual design process while choosing and using materials and metal types that are “right for the job.” Finish and patina are up to the maker.
