Challenge Details

Description Reminder:

While metal clay syringe is an excellent material to use when making repairs or joining parts, it is also useful when creating delicate design details.

Make a pair of multi part, mis-matched earrings (different, but obviously intended to be worn together) that take advantage of the unique properties of the commercially manufactured metal clay syringe. Each earring must be comprised of two or more dangling elements embellished with at least two different sizes/gauges of syringe work, and must be finished with custom, hand formed ear wires (no posts). The syringe extrusions may be backed or open, flat, or dimensional and should make a significant visual impact.

Designs must demonstrate control and precision in application. A loose, spaghetti-like extrusion is not appropriate for this challenge. Use any of the accessory tips to develop a variety of gauges, modify an existing tip, or leave the tip off completely, but you may not substitute another type of extruder paired with lump clay. Any other decorations or materials may be included but are not required. The information request will ask for a WIP photo that shows the unfired metal clay pieces and the syringe used to create the design.
